The free plan is a fully functional single-computer whitelist browser. Whitelist management and schedule enforcement work entirely on-device. When you upgrade to Family, the whitelist and schedule sync to the cloud so you can manage everything from your phone, receive push notifications when your child requests a site, and add Mac computers to the same household.

Yes. The free plan runs Kidsplorer on one Windows computer with local whitelist and schedule management. There is no time limit, no credit card, and no features that expire. The only difference from the paid plans is that the free plan works offline and locally — there is no cloud sync, parent portal, or push notification support.
Yes. All institutional plans include a 30-day free trial with no credit card required. You get full access to the admin dashboard, bulk install capability, and multi-device management during the trial. At the end of the trial you choose a tier or the account reverts to free.
One household means all the computers in a single home used by the same family. There is no device count limit on the Family plan — if you have three Windows computers and two Macs in your home, all of them are covered under one Family subscription.
No. Kidsplorer checks for updates every 12 hours and installs them silently in the background. On institutional plans, updates are mandatory — all devices stay on the same version automatically. You never need to visit individual machines to keep Kidsplorer current.
Yes. The Institutional L plan includes CIPA compliance documentation. Libraries using Kidsplorer can demonstrate to E-rate reviewers that internet access on covered computers is filtered to prevent access to obscene or harmful material. Contact us before signing up and we’ll walk you through the documentation.
You can cancel your subscription at any time through the Stripe Customer Portal. Annual subscriptions are not prorated, but if you contact us within 14 days of renewal we’ll issue a full refund. The free plan is always available after cancellation.
