Security

How Kidsplorer protects parent accounts, child profiles, whitelist data, and billing information.

Kidsplorer stores parent account data, child profiles, and whitelist configurations. This page explains our practical security approach.

1. Authentication and account access

  • Passwords are stored as secure one-way hashes.
  • Account access is restricted to authenticated users.
  • Sensitive account actions require authorized session context.

Parent accounts control the whitelist and schedule for connected devices. Protect your parent account credentials — they control what your children can access.

2. Data handling

  • Traffic is protected with HTTPS/TLS in transit.
  • Access controls scope customer data to the authorized account context.
  • Child profile data (display name, age group) is not linked to personal information and is not used for advertising.
  • We do not store per-session browsing logs, keystrokes, or screenshots.

3. On-device tamper resistance

Kidsplorer’s on-device tamper resistance is designed for children on non-administrator Windows accounts:

  • Keyboard hooks prevent Alt+F4, Ctrl+W, and other shortcuts from closing the browser.
  • Developer Tools are disabled and cannot be opened within Kidsplorer.
  • A PIN is required to exit Kidsplorer or access settings on the device.
  • Full-screen mode discourages application switching.

These protections are effective for children ages 6–12 on non-admin accounts. They are not designed to prevent bypass by an administrator-level user or a determined teenager.

4. Billing security

  • Billing is processed by Stripe.
  • Kidsplorer does not store raw card numbers or CVV.
  • We store only billing references needed for subscription management.

5. Automatic updates

On all paid plans, Kidsplorer updates are delivered automatically and silently. Devices running institutional plans receive mandatory updates — all devices stay on the same current version without administrator action.

6. Infrastructure and operations

Kidsplorer uses established infrastructure and service providers. See Subprocessors for the current provider list.
